Vacuum trucks use either high-pressure water "hydro" or air to gently excavate soils over an existing underground utility to expose it for the purpose of identification, horizontal and vertical measurement, and mapping. Armed with this information, contractors will have a greater level of protection throughout their construction projects.

Utility Locating

Utility location is the process of locating underground utilities prior to beginning an excavation project. The vast network of underground pipelines carrying water, sewage, gas, electric and telephone cables, etc. are challenging to civil projects; especially in urban areas.
Trenching in areas of high utility density or environmental sensitivity is often best performed by vacuum. Here a narrow exploratory trench exposes a number of utilities safely next to a railway station. The work is fast, clean, and effective.
Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) is used to survey the condition and attributes of subsurface pipes or structures. It is a powerful tool to visualize the physical parameters and conditions, and usability of these utilities.
Control of the flow and speed of traffic is mandatory on most roadway projects. AIRX drafts traffic control plans, pull permits, sets up and maintains traffic control equipment on its job sites for the safety of its employees and the public. These services are available as a standalone service.
